Pitti Immagine presents

Guide de L'espresso 2011

New guides of 2011

Mercato di Saln Lorenzo

On Thursday October 7th  2010, in Florence, inside of the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the best Italian wines and country’s top restaurants were celebrated through the presentation of the latest edition of “Le Guide de L’Espresso”: “I Vini d’Italia 2011” and “Ristoranti d’Italia 2011” .
After seven editions at the Stazione Leopolda, in 2010 the event moved to the San Lorenzo market where it occupied the first floor of the historic 19th Century building which is being opened to the city again following renovation work. “Guide de L’Espresso” books were presented by Pitti Immagine in collaboration with Camera di Commercio di Firenze and Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana, with the contribution of Comune di Firenze.
This initiative placed the spotlight on two of our country’s best known and most important industries: Italian wines and restaurants which constitute an important vehicle for promoting the excellence of Italian products and style around the world.
The presentation was held in a truly unique location, one of the city’s historic architectural symbols and a point of reference for quality shopping for Florentines and tourists alike.
The Mercato di San Lorenzo is one of the largest covered markets in Italy, designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni – who was also responsible for the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The Market was inaugurated in 1874 when it hosted the International Agricultural Fair. The newly renovated first floor of the Market, which is being reopened for the first time, became a very special location for the event thanks to the exciting layout created by architect Alessandro Moradei.
The presentation of “Le Guide de L’Espresso” is realized with the support of Acqua Sparea, Caraiba, Conad, De Cecco, Negroni, Riso Gallo and Assobirra.
