Successful Florence debut by this show

The 71st Modaprima has just closed, the fair for the international fast fashion market and ready-to-wear for medium and large-scale retail. It showcased autumn-winter collections for 2012-2013, with focus on bestsellers from spring-summer 2012.
Results were more than positive, with good feedback regarding its new Florentine location after the move from Milan. Well-organised logistics were set against the marvellous nineteenth century backdrop of the Stazione Leopolda. What really made this new appointment stand out, with attendance figures at the same levels as those for the last edition in May this year, was the high quality of visiting buyers.
The three-day fair had around 1,600 international visitors from over 50 countries, including Japan, Turkey, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Greece, Russia, Canada and the United States. These qualified, informed buyers showed great interest in products made in Italy and had clear ideas regarding orders and sampling for the next season.
Despite the current fairly complicated economic scenario, the general mood seemed to be that fast-fashion manufacturers intend to produce on-trend collections with good wearability and a good quality-price ratio. Articles by these brands mix artisan tradition and innovation and manage to combine Italian style and quality with a logic client loyalty: a true strong point that should increasingly be highlighted and a factor that, despite everything, has earned them a large slice of the market.
