Buyer figures on the rise at Modaprima 83: foreign buyers up by +7.5%, with positive performances from Japan, Turkey, Russia, United States, Hong Kong, China and Eastern Europe; Italy confirms its numbers.

Around 1,450 buyers in total traveled to Florence (+3%), 60% of which were foreign buyers from nearly 50 different countries: the fair confirmed its international character and concrete business approach for the collections created for medium and large-scale distribution.
The 83rd edition of Modaprima (Florence, 10-12 November 2017) came to an end at the Stazione Leopolda within a very positive climate for the participating companies that were able to meet a very international public of buyers, confirming the distinctive signature of the fair created for the foreign promotion of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories collections for men and women destined for medium and large-scale distribution. Around 80 product lines were presented at this edition from 40 companies, some of the best names in Italy specializing in this production segment, and by a selection of foreign companies from countries like United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal.
The final numbers recorded were very positive and showed a rise compared to the results for the last few editions. The three days of the event witnessed the participation of around 1,450 international buyers (there were nearly 1,400 at the last winter edition), a 3% increase. The foreign markets – which, as previously mentioned, now account for 60% of the overall number of buyers – turned out to be particularly dynamic (+7.5%), registering over 800 members of the trade from 48 countries: there was growth, with very positive performances, for Japan (+18%), Turkey (+47), Russia (+33%), United States (+50%), Hong Kong, China, United Arab Emirates and for countries in Eastern Europe.
With regard to the buyers attending from Italy, the numbers recorded for the last edition were basically confirmed.
“Modaprima confirmed its international vocation and this was also demonstrated by the numbers and performances for this edition”, says Agostino Poletto, general manager ofPitti Immagine. “At the fair we saw an excellent level of buyers who arrived from all over the world with a very concrete spirit, ready to learn more about the collections - quality Italian products – presented by companies that are able to offer clients efficient services and flexible production. And within the perspective of international promotion, the targeted program of incoming delegations realized in collaboration with the ICE Agency worked very well bringing 14 foreign buyers from Russia, Japan, South Korea, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Belgium and Sweden to this edition”.
“We are obviously very aware that this sector is going through a rather complex phase”, concludes Agostino Poletto, “and the current scenario of the various rendezvous dedicated to companies that produce ready-to-wearproducts for medium and large-scale distribution is similarly complex: for this reason we are hoping for a greater synergy between all the members in the field so that we can offer even more concrete support to companies and contribute to their internationalization”.
Japan once again led the ranking of the top 15 key countries, followed by Turkey, Spain, Russia, France, United States, Hong Kong, Greece, China, Ukraine, Portugal, Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea and United Arab Emirates.
