What I love about Pitti Super is that here I can always discover new talents and be ahead of everyone else in the industry. I follow the project from its very beginning, and I am proud to see its development. Every season I find here more exceptional brands and amazing designers to follow.

This September I did a tour through Pitti Super and I want to share my thoughts about the brands which I loved.

Charlie May
Charlie May is a great example of a new generation of designers who rely on the power of Internet. Her blog Girl A La Mode is promoting her RTW collection and increases the number of her followers (and customers) worldwide. Charlie’s aesthetic is pure and light and she knows how to come up with a clear cut with a twist.

Paskal
Paskal is an Odessa-based brand which is created by designer Julie Paskal. Among her recent achievements, Julie can boast about sales at cult French store Colette and the fact she was shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH prize. Her new collection is based on four main colours and laser cutting, which is her main DNA.

Timur Kim
Established in 2012 by Central St. Martins graduate of Russian and Korean origin Timur Kim's label is on the radar of all cool stores and avant-garde press. A new fashion sensation, Timur is just 24, but already does a show during London Fashion Week and has everything to become the next big designer. (think of David Koma, who just was appointed a creative director of Thierry Mugler).

Bradaric Ohmae
This brans is a beautiful blend between the aesthetic of two creative personalities - Tanja Bradaric and Taro Ohmae. Both Tanja and Taro had experience in fashion by working in many great fashion houses, and this makes a perfect foundation for the work on their own label. I love how they use fabrics and their feeling of colour – I am sure buyers will also admit their talent and we will soon see Bradaric Ohmae collections in different shops worldwide.

Ken Samudio
Ken Samudio is my favourite accessories designer of the year, and I am glad I discovered him at Super. Before he became an accessories designer, Ken Samudio was a Biologist specializing in marine biodiversity. Ken Samudio’s technique explores the natural and organic forms found in nature mimicking its tactile features and distinct textures using indigenous and recycled materials. He is constantly inspired by the diversity of the coastal and reef system of the 7,107 islands of the Philippines where he was born and raised. Being a lover of nature and a staunch supporter of the environment, Samudio created pieces from up cycled beads made from water plastic bottles, recycled glass and many other sustainable materials.

Also this season Super gave a lot of attention to Russian designers, who were brought to Milan with a support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The participating brands and designers included Katerina Fee, Maria Golubeva, Alexander Khrisanfov, LES', Natali Leskova, Mineral Weather, Luda Nikishina, Osome2some, Georgy Rushev, Anna Slavutina, SOL' Designers, Yanina Vekhteva and Natasha Weinstock. It was great to see the new breed of Russian designers, many of which I suggest you to follow. For example, LES’ is known for its childishly romantic aesthetic, but when talking to the designer its obvious that she has some very serious intensions. I am sure that Pitti Super helped her to realize all her far going plans!
