Pitti Italics, Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery’s program promoting and supporting the next generation of Italian fashion designers with international potential, shines the spotlight on Lucio Vanotti. Born in Bergamo in 1975, Lucio Vanotti debuted his label on the runway in January 2016 and plans to unveil his menswear collection in the first ever preview and with a fashion show at Pitti Uomo 90.

Lucio Vanotti – profile
Considered a solid designer, Lucio Vanotti was born in 1975 and earned his degree from the Istituto Marangoni in Milan. His vision of fashion is rational and essential and leads him to avoid the superfluous. His creative process is as clear, fast and efficient as if he were governed by mathematical formulas, striving for perfect simplicity. Named one of the finalists in the “Who is on next?” contest in June 2012 and after having created the independent label February, Vanotti decided to pursue a solo project. He established the Lucio Vanotti brand, producing both menswear and womenswear in Italy. In 2013, he won the “White Inside Award” award, and the brand made its runway debut in January 2016 when Giorgio Armani invited him to show in the Armani Theatre at Via Bergognone. He uses marks, material and surface as variables in his work, and the tools he wields are purity and conciseness. By distilling each individual garment to the essential and eliminating the insignificant, Vanotti creates a base form that is both precise and complete, free of any useless elements. He tends to take his collections to the abstract, an extreme concept that translates into forms of purity and absolute geometries that swathe the body. Unconcerned with embellishment, Lucio Vanotti merges the beautiful with the practical, and what remains is what truly counts, like the grain of the fabric and the seams that define each garment’s structure.
