“We have been keeping a careful eye on Jonathan Anderson’s career for several seasons”, says Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine director of communications and events. “Above all, we are drawn to the creativity and eclecticism of his collections that are further enhanced by fine quality manufacturing and – in menswear by undisputable sartorial skill. The way he reinterprets elements from the contemporary art scene and from the youth culture, alternating emotional impact (out-of-scale volumes, for example) and transgressions that are projected towards anticipating the future leaving very little room for nostalgia, is very interesting. His shows are always surprising with great communicative power”.
JW Anderson will present the Italian debut showing of his S/S 2018 men’s collection on Wednesday, 14 June (7:00p.m.) at Villa la Pietra, a truly extraordinary setting. “I am truly honored by this invitation to show at Pitti Uomo”, said Jonathan Anderson. “Florence, with its extraordinary beauty will be the perfect backdrop for my collection”.
Thirty-two year old Jonathan Anderson was born in Northern Ireland and launched J.W. Anderson in 2008. After he showed the first collection of accessories that achieved great critical and commercial success, JW Anderson quickly became known as one of London’s most innovative labels. In 2015 he received the “British Fashion Awards” “Menswear” and “Womenswear Designer of the Year” awards – the first time that one designer took the prize in both categories. In 2013 the LVMH Fashion Group acquired a stake in J.W. Anderson, supporting the brand’s growth. Soon after, Mr. Anderson was appointed Creative Director of Loewe (the Madrid-based LVMH luxury brand) where he immediately began reinventing the firm’s codes.
