Pitti Uomo 81 closing figures

Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, USA and China drive foreign demand at Pitti Immagine Uomo n. 81
A few days from the end of the 81st edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo (Florence, Fortezza da Basso, 10-13 January 2012), where 1,100 exhibitors presented collections bursting with new ideas, research and stylistic innovation, the buyer attendance figures basically confirm the trends seen over the last few days.

Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, South Korea and Turkey – all of which registered increases in terms of buyers or sales outlets – drove the foreign demand and made up for some significant, albeit predictable, decreases from countries like Spain (almost 200 fewer buyers), Greece and Portugal.  There were excellent results – with double digit increases - for the richer Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland), with the sole exception of Norway.  Consolidated markets like France, Russia and Hong Kong dropped by a few percentage points whilst still maintaining very high absolute values.  There was a mixed performance from Eastern Europe: Romania, Latvia, Slovenia, Croatia and Slovakia did well, but decreases were recorded for Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic.  The figures for India and Mexico, two emerging countries, remained stable.  And finally there was good news from two interesting outsiders, South Africa and Israel, whilst the results for the Middle Eastern area were less dazzling than at previous editions. In all, there were around 7,400 foreign visitors, of which approximately 13,600 from Italy.
