Y/Project’s Glenn Martens Wins
ANDAM Award

Thirteen finalists, 25 jury members, and a horde of fashion insiders gathered at the French Ministry of Culture in Paris this evening for the presentation of the 2017 ANDAM Awards. Founded in 1989, ANDAM—the National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts—was the first fashion prize in France. Today it is one of international fashion’s most respected awards. In her comments, founder Nathalie Dufour noted that every fashion house has rallied to the cause, with Swarovski contributing the crystal trophies and in-kind contributions to all the winners.

To a wave of loud cheers, Y/Project creative director Glenn Martens accepted the €280,000 grand prize. “I’m feeling kind of absurd. It’s like it’s not really real. But the crystal is helping me!” He added that it would help him consolidate the brand: “This support is going to help my product. We do everything in-house. It’s been an amazing journey. We lost often. But you keep on believing, and sometimes you can move mountains.”

In addition to a generous check, Martens will receive one year of mentoring from Francesca Bellettini, CEO and president of Yves Saint Laurent. “Glenn has the passion to be one of the designers who will keep fashion relevant,” she said. Swarovski is sweetening the pot with €10,000 worth of crystals to use in his designs.
