WHO-AND-I, THE NEW SPAZIO RICERCA
The new version of the Spazio Ricerca encompasses the entire Cavaniglia Pavilion, including Fashion at Work, the area dedicated to the most advanced technologies and services for the textile/clothing industries. And, in the wake of the general approval the previous edition received, the new exhibition layout will be presenting video screenings, fabrics, stitches and ad hoc finished garments highlighting the myriad creative interactions between knitwear and the different product categories in a clothing collection, furthering the development of a new concept in trend areas.

The concept and realization of the Spazio Ricerca is curated by fashion designer Angelo Figus and knitwear expert Nicola Miller, whilst the new layout in the Cavaniglia Pavilion is by architect Alessandro Moradei.
Who-And-I, the title-theme of the Spazio Ricerca at Pitti Filati 65, will present the trends for the 2010-2011 fall/winter season and a series of reflections on the topic of identity, a study that travels backwards seeking origins and identifying characteristics.  With its five themes - Pre-He-Story, Re-Tailor, Chil-Dish, And-Rogine, U-Nisex – it will lay the foundations for a new future and a new esthetic.  These five themes, expressed by five different exhibition modes, will be linked by graphic signs and writing that will provide a backdrop for and frame the installations.

THE EVENTS AT THE FORTEZZA AND AROUND TOWN
The events scheduled during Pitti Filati include: the TODD & DUNCAN press conference – Tuesday 7 July 2009, at 3.00 p.m. at the stand (H10-12) in the Main Pavilion – during which the Scottish company will present its new projects and investments to press and members of the trade; and the installation “Il cerchio è simbolo protagonista” by LINEAPIÙ’ at the stand (on the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion, stand R12), displaying 15 garments created exclusively by Armenian fashion designer Naira Khachatryan to present the yarns for the new 2010/2011 fall/winter collection.

Concomitantly with Pitti Filati, the Stazione Leopolda in Florence will be hosting VINTAGE SELECTION (7-11 July 2009), the vintage clothing, accessories and designer objects fair, which has become an unmissable rendezvous for cool hunters, the style bureaus of top international fashion companies and vintage fashion enthusiasts.  The theme of the 14th edition is Vintage Manifesto, i.e. 8 good reasons that today, more than ever, make vintage a fashionable consumer product.  Cult items from over 30 Italian vintage fashion exhibitors will be showcased at the Stazione Leopolda along with the brands in the REMAKE section which is devoted to the collections of 5 firms making customized vintage.
