ECO À PORTER: TECHNICAL DESIGN-RESEARCH JOINS HANDS WITH ECOLOGY
Touch! Pavilion - via Tortona 54
Eco à Porter is an original project that combines research on new materials with experiments on new shapes and styles in fashion. An installation curated by Ornella Bignami – trend expert and consultant to important names in textiles and fashions – focuses on the growing interest in natural yarns and low-environmental impact manufacturing: an industry which, in turn, represents one of the most interesting developments for the future of fashion both in terms of production and markets.
With a special setting created by architect Alessandro Moradei, inside the Touch! pavilion, Eco à Porter is a sort of technological forest made of hanging, industrially-shaped wooden trunks that form a backdrop for the clothes on display: a selection of knits made with the cooperation of some our most advanced fashion designers, using special yarns from the most important Italian manufacturer.
The emphasis is on items that experiment unusual nature-technology combinations: organic and natural, plant or animal fibers, such as organic cotton, alpaca in all its natural shades and eco-wool, and there are also innovative products that are the fruit of recycling such as cashmere that maintains its quality and softness and opens the way for ever newer experiments.
