UMIT BENAN and MAX KIBARDIN ARE THE WINNERS OF THE FIRST EDITION OF WHO IS ON NEXT? / UOMO.
LEITMOTIV RECEIVES HONORABLE MENTION FOR PRINT QUALITY
WHO IS ON NEXT? / UOMO, the competition seeking new talents in men’s fashions, and produced by Pitti Immagine Uomo, Alta Roma and L’Uomo Vogue, has announced the winners of the first edition held on the occasion of Pitti Uomo 76 in Florence.
The international judging panel of top buyers, members of the fashion press and opinion makers has awarded the first prize for the best prêt-à-porter collection to UMIT BENAN, first prize for the best accessories collection went to MAX KIBARDIN, and LEITMOTIV received an honorable mention..
The collections by the 7 finalists in this first edition - Elia Maurizi, Hewn, Leitmotiv, Made in roma, Marvie, Max Kibardin and Umit Benan – will be shown to the Pitti Uomo audience today only, 18 June at the Limonaia in the gardens of Villa Vittoria. The setting designed by architect Alessandro Moradei is a very technical “display-archive” created to show the collections in the best possible light.
The WHO’S ON NEXT PRÉT-À-PORTER award goes to UMIT BENAN, for a sartorial quality collection that presents an ironic and casual interpretation of a concept with a strong classic basis; and for his ability to control the development of the entire collection – from designing the silhouettes to production, from styling to communications with a confident hand.:
Our wish: we want to see you on the runway!
The WHO’S ON NEXT award for ACCESSORIES goes to MAX KIBARDIN for having clearly and elegantly – in both words and production – translated the bond between quality manufacturing and contemporary sensitivity for luxury - luxury in the sense of in-depth research on materials and shapes.
Our wish: to show a generation of Eastern European designers what happens if they meet Italy’s extraordinary fashion-producing culture.
The Judging Panel awarded an Honorable Mention to LEITMOTIV for the quality of its prints, a creative process that begins with research on original sources and then continues by hand with personal and esthetically cognizant interpretations that convey an idea of joy and love of fashion
Our wish: to see LEITMOTIV become the twenty-first century’s Fornasetti
