High Tech, High Touch: the third appointment with the creative side of technology
HIGH TECH – HIGH TOUCH
THE THIRD APPOINTMENT WITH THE CREATIVE SIDE OF TECHNOLOGY
Technology’s contributions to fibers and textiles are playing an increasingly important role in fashion design. And it is a role that is evolving continuously, from purely technical innovations, linked to the physical properties of the product, technology is becoming more and more important in esthetic and creative design as well. And it is revealing surprising potential.
Pitti Immagine Filati has dedicated the High Tech-High Touch project to increasingly sophisticated and multi-form research, presenting the most recent and interesting proposals from international companies – not only fashion – that invest and manufacture with special attention to style developments.
The theme for this season’s edition of High Tech-High Touch is decoration, as it interprets a widespread desire to draw away from the aseptic esthetics that dominated past seasons. The concept of decoration is totally revisited: no more additions or overlaps, but work on the structure of the material itself. Yarn production is a metamorphosis – in color and composition, the dyes create shades that change when touched. And there are heterogeneous materials that are literally bonded together, and seem to change from one into the other without any interruptions, creating unusual and often lavish effects.
The exhibition, curated by Ornella Bignami IS located in the SALONE M AT THE LOWER FLOOR OF THE Main Pavilion, and will be open during all three days of Pitti Immagine Filati.
