The 31st edition of Vintage Selection (Florence 24-28 January 2018), the fair-event showcasing quality vintage fashion, design and culture - held in the same timeframe as Pitti Filati - ended with decidedly positive feedback from both members of the trade as well as the enthusiasts who attended over the five days of the event. The public particularly appreciated the offering of clothing and accessories that have made the history of fashion presented by the around 70 exhibitors at this edition, as well as the energetic atmosphere and the rich program of events proposed.
The theme of this edition was “Vintage Selection: The Next Past!”, dedicated to the highly imaginative universe of great cinema and the small screen – amidst remakes, reboots and prequels – linked to the main theme of the Pitti Immagine winter fairs.
There were 7,900 visitors in total over the five days of the fair - over 500 more compared to one year ago – and the numbers were also up with regard to the specialist professionals attending: around 900 stylists, designers and style bureaus from the big fashion houses visiting Pitti Filati no.82. They were particularly interested in the knitwear, a real reference must for every season, as well as women’s shirts, jeans and leather/fur clothing by iconic fashion brands, an unfailing feature of the products on display.
The rich calendar of events at this edition was very popular, in particular the medley of dance revivals of Jazz and swing music from the ’20s and ’30s, by the Tuballoswing cultural association and the artistic skating performance by the Popup association, accompanied by a DJ Set.
Last but not least, the special Shiny Vibes exhibition-installation in the Stazione Leopolda was also a success and presented clothing from the most famous movie sets of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s through over 30 surprising outfits.
The next edition of Vintage Selection will be held concomitantly with Pitti Immagine Filati no. 83 (27-29 June 2018) at the Fortezza da Basso.
