Give to a young designer the opportunity to test his creativity in the field of knitwear is a great chance of personal growth. The support given to the students by the companies, working alongside them in the development of each project is also a chance for them to have a full immersion in a company’s world. Timing, schedules, last-minute changes of mind, could be pushing and stimulating. Feel the Yarn is a huge hub of talents and we are proud to be present in the competitions with the Capsule Collections of Valeria Grussu and Rossella Coppola. Deal with top quality yarns, color folders and new trends has been a challenge for them to create contemporary design shapes.

It is our pleasure to be invited to participate Feel the Yarn. When we use the yarns from partner companies this year, we have learned its high quality right away.
As the only institute to be invited in Japan, Bunka Fashion College students learn not only hand knitting but also machine knitting. The works of this year were designed, knitted, and completed all by our students.

We wish the connection between Japanese young designers and Italian yarn companies will continue in the future.

We are very happy to participate in the Feel the Yarn 2017 program. My young student, future leader of the knit industry, will grow further through her participation in this program. In accordance with the common theme 'knit mix', she creatively developed knit design. I guided her to invent a variety of patterns with high quality Italian yarns and develop their works using several textile techniques. I and my student are very excited about exchanging worldwide various sensitivity expressed in wonderful works of the participants in this program.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Textiledesign, provides students with an applied education, working regularly with companies from Switzerland and abroad. (Hugo Boss, Création Baumann, Mitwill etc.)
The cooperation with the Italian yarn companies from Tuscany enriches the involved students professional experiences. I appreciate the opportunity that the students can present their work at the ”Pitti Filati”-fair in order to receive positive or critical reactions.

To be part of the “Feel the Yarn” project is a great honor for the “Niederrhein University of Applied Science” and a fantastic opportunity for our students to show their creative potential and knitting knowledge to a professional audience and to get into contact with international fashion industries.
It is a great pleasure to work with beautiful, innovative and sophisticated yarns provided by the Italian spinners. I would like to thank CPF and PITTI IMMAGINE FILATI and the participating Italian spinners for their valuable support given to all students of the project.

“Pitti Immagine Filati” is the most influential yarn fair in the world.
The „Feel the Yarn Competition“ as part of this globally recognized fair is a fantastic offer for the students to work very closely with the best knitwear yarn companies in Italy and for both sides it is a very instructive cooperation. For their personal development it is a fantastic step forward for their personal professional future. Well-educated designers are necessary for solving complex future needs and tasks and the Feel the Yarn Competition is an excellent initiative to act responsibly for future demands. We are very proud and feel deeply honored to be invited and to represent our school during the Pitti Immagine Filati at the Feel the Yarn Competition.

'A wonderful opportunity for students. A full immersion project, a chance to come into contact with the real world of knitwear, bringing them closer to a more professional approach to designing, while giving them the means to really experiment with yarns to create new knits'.

Kingston University’s BA(Hons) Fashion degree is once again honoured to be exhibiting at Feel the yarn. This is a very exciting opportunity for the two selected students to work with innovative and contemporary yarns of high quality and further builds on the relationships with industry which we encourage our students to make throughout the programme. The opportunities offered by this competition are exceptional – previous students who have taken part have benefited from meeting the spinners, allowing a greater understanding of the industry and the opportunity to network throughout the show.
Many thanks to Ornella and her team.
