John Varvatos

An absolute Europe debute only for Pitti Uomo

Stazione Leopolda

This will be an absolute first for Europe as up until now Varvatos only presented his collections in New York City.

Pitti Immagine’s decision to feature the John Varvatos collection is also a strong response to the uncertainty of the times: it is a choice that rewards energy, the desire to react and positive investment. It is also – and quite obviously – a concrete sign of attention and interest in American industry and creativity to which Pitti Immagine Uomo offers the most qualified international market.

Since his 1999 debut with the line that bears his name, John Varvatos received the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award two years in a row (June 2000, and June 2001). This was unprecedented in the world of men’s fashions and makes him one of the most interesting new names on the U.S. fashion scene.

“My philosophy, says Varvatos, is to look to the past in order to move towards the future. The clothes I make are modern, but they have an “experienced” soul; my sensitivity, itself, is old and new at the same time. In my opinion men today have a more personal and individualistic approach to how they dress. They mix elegance and casual, achieving an eclectic look that adapts perfectly to their personality.”

Once again Pitti Immagine Uomo can confirm itself and its role as the sounding board for the most interesting phenomena on the international scene, the launching pad for great creativity. This role makes the Florentine event a great moment of study in the field of men’s fashions and it is closely monitored by all members of the trade throughout the world.
