Ozwald Boateng

A series of short-movies realized in 10 years

Palazzo Antinori

On the evening of Friday, June 25th, in the court of Palazzo Antinori, Ozwald Boateng will present a collection of short films, which he has made over the last decade. The short films, all conceptualized and produced by Boateng himself, are a powerful visual catalogue of his life, career and inspirations.  Spanning his first fashion show in Paris in 1994, and including films inspired by his love of tailoring, periods of personal loss and even his fascination with Russia – the homeland of his wife Gyunel, the collection of films show a designer with a talent that goes far beyond fashion.

Many of the short films were made to illustrate the themes and ideas behind his collections and have been screened before his fashion shows in Paris and New York. Others were made at important points in his career. Some of these short films have never before been screened in public.

Speaking of the project, Ozwald Boateng says, “It is an exciting opportunity to be involved with an alternative project such as this, based on fashion, but also demonstrating my love for and use of film in my work. And I am thrilled that Pitti Immagine are supporting this imaginative event”.
