Pitti Immagine invited Jil Sander, one of the major name in the international fashion world, to present a première show on the Pitti Uomo catwalk. Thursday evening June 17th , Jil Sander’s creative director, Raf Simons showed the S./S. 2011 Menswear Collection representative of the brand’s unmistakable look.
It was a Florence debut for Jil Sander and an important “return” for its creative director Raf Simons after the fashion project dedicated to the brand’s 10th anniversary and the exhibition “The fourth sex” at Stazione Leopolda.
With Jil Sander in Florence Pitti Uomo continued its tribute to the brands that had long represented quality, excellence and product culture and that chose Florence as the ideal stage for presenting their collections to the press and buyers.
Talking about Jil Sander:
“I adored the tailoring Jil Sander, complex as it was, but the fabrics - were they woven, printed, scratched, top-stitched? - were completely absorbing and new”. (Cathy Horyn – The New York Times)
“Jil Sander neatly encapsulated fashion's turn away from the sartorial excesses of the go-go '80s and made understatement attractive.” (Armand Limnander - Harper's Bazaar)
