Pitti Italics - the Fondazione Pitti Discovery program that promotes and supports new generations of fashion designers and the most interesting brands that design and produce in Italy - presents:
CARLO VOLPI _ A love story with knits that has been going on for a lifetime, the winner of Who is on next? Uomo 2016, Carlo Volpi - a Tuscan designer who has been based in London since 1998 - launched his knitwear brand in 2014. His passion for art, color and craft techniques is presented with a touch of humor in his exclusive unisex garments made with fine yarns from the best Italian mills. His creations are characterized by bold colors and eclectic patterns and the traditional manual techniques are reinterpreted using the most advanced manufacturing technologies
“It is an honor for me to have the opportunity to exhibit at Pitti Uomo again”, says Carlo Volpi, “I have always felt very close to Pitti: as a Tuscan, resident in London, my collaboration with Pitti Filati as a student at the Royal College of Art was a bit like coming home. So to win Who’s On Next? Uomo was a crowning achievement following years of hard work. My AW17-18 collection draws inspiration from “cool grannies”, like Iris Apfel or Disco Sally of Studio 54. Knitwear stereotypes are reinterpreted with a ‘90s street flavor featuring garments embellished with prints, heat-welded seams and plenty of color and irony”.
PITTI ITALICS is promoted by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana with a grant from the Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico – Ministry for Economic Development and Agenzia ICE – in support of Italian trade fairs and Made in Italy.
