During Pitti Uomo 92, a special performance will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Marvielab brand. It is an important anniversary and a tribute to brand’s beginnings – founded and directed by the designer Mariavittoria Sargentini – which was launched in Florence in June 2007 during Pitti Uomo.
To celebrate this important milestone, the event will recreate the 6 childhood games – hopscotch, pull-the-tail, ball games, skipping rope, elastics, hula-hoop – adored by the designer when she was 10.
The games are a pure and simple metaphor to depict the work methods that accompanied, and still accompany today, the designing of the collections presented over the years.
Ten years of work that have maintained throughout the period an avant-garde design scheme with a particular emphasis on comfortable everyday dressing, accompanied by tireless research into pared-down construction and functionality.
The “re_mind” collection to be presented at the salon is a synthesis of the projects created up until the present day. A kind of closure of a cycle. The selection of archive garments drawn from different collections demonstrates the presence of a common thread running through all the projects, and how the shapes and reconstructed classic garments are still contemporary (and possibly more easily understood in today’s context), because in the brand philosophy the genderless and seasonless concept have always been a fixed point.
