The Swedish rain and sneakers brand Tretorn, together with Finnish brand Makia, launches at the Pitti Uomo in January a sailing collection with inspiration from Åland. The collection includes rainwear, boots, knitted sweaters and accessories. The collection is created around the theme of peaceful marine life and the timeless sailing culture. The idea of the Peace Islands collection emerged when Tretorn and Makia met at Pitti Uomo and found the many synergies that existed between the brands and the Åland region. An archipelago located in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland, a demilitarized place belonging to Finland but is Swedish speaking. Åland has a long maritime history and is today a meeting place for sailing enthusiasts with a eco mindset. The Peace Islands Collection also focuses on sustainability:Tretorn and Makia donate part of the sale to the foundation John Nurminens, who works for a clean Baltic Sea. The raincoats in the collection are also made in recycled polyester as part of Tretorns Eco Essentials initiative.
