Pitti Uomo 89 shines the spotlights on talents from Africa
Fondazione Pitti Discovery, in collaboration with ITC ETHICAL FASHION INITIATIVE, will focus on made in Africa fashions with the project “GENERATION AFRICA”: a show dedicated to promoting young and talented designers from Africa and its rising creative scene.
On Thursday 14 January at the Dogana of Via Valfonda, the runway will showcase a selection of collections by designer-brands that are manufactured in their home countries and are looking to the international markets: Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen, Ikirè Jones, Lukhanyo Mdingi and U.MI-1.
Since 2009, Ethical Fashion Initiative is the key program of the International Trade Centre, an agency that operates under the aegis of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative connects the world’s greatest fashion talents and small craft firms – operated mainly by women – in East and West Africa, and Haiti.
