ROCK ME PITTI, the theme for January

ROCK ME PITTI is the main theme for the Pitti winter shows. How much music is there in fashion? And how much fashion is there in music?

“With ROCK ME PITTI, the theme for Pitti Uomo 85”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine, “Pitti is dropping a virtual coin into a sparkling global jukebox that produces sounds, words and images, entertainment and emotions, business and creativity. To do with music what we always do with fashion: choose the best, the newest, the most interesting and reinterpret with our unique style to offer our visitors a dimension of pleasure and entertainment. During Pitti Uomo, the entire fair, from the pavilions to the individual stands to the Forecourt of the Fortezza da Basso will be enlivened by performances and installations, images and cult objects related to the world of music, to the echoes of a new sound, presenting the myriad spirits of international men’s fashions - a song that Pitti Uomo sings so well”.

The ROCK ME PITTI poster - place – designed by Oliviero Baldini – will be the Fortezza da Basso’s huge forecourt in front of the Main Pavilion
. There will also be setups inside the various pavilions and music will be the inspiration for original furnishing themes and items.

To celebrate the main theme there will be the project Best Live Music Ever:
the unique agenda - “Best Live Music Ever” - that Pitti Immagine has created with Nava Design and Fedrigoni for the buyers and special guests at this edition of the fair will also be dedicated to the ROCK ME PITTI theme. The agenda, drawn up by Ernesto Assante, music critic for Repubblica, covers the best concerts that made live music history.

And at the Rinascente store in Florence: Watch the Music, Listen to Design.
During the days spanning the end of 2013 and the start of 2014, La Rinascente in Florence will feature seven very special display windows created by seven promising young Italian designers and dedicated to music – each window to a different music genre. La Rinascente has decided to interpret the Pitti fairs’ main theme through the window dressings of the big store overlooking Piazza della Repubblica with Watch The Music, Listen to Design, a special project curated by Sergio Colantuoni. The 7 designer are: Matteo Capobianco, Carnovsky, Giorgio di Salvo, Michela Natella, Servomuto, Ilaria Vergani and Flaminia Veronesi.
