Brand Profile
Founded in mid-2022, in Transito is an independent publishing house that crosses genre boundaries, combining music, literature, signs, drawings, plots, and stories.
In Transito editions were created to
• Revive the illustrated book, now relegated to either numbered editions for collectors or children's books. Like translation, illustration is an in-depth reading of a text. We began with the works of Frans Masereel, an engraver, courageous publisher, and prolific illustrator of literary texts. Then, we sought out other authors and illustrators, such as Karel and Josef Čapek, Aubrey Beardsley, Felix Vallotton, and Adolf Hoffmeister, recovering their iconic editions from the past.
• Bring together the world of words and the magic of sounds. Fiction revolves around music and the universe of those who create and perform it. Taking up the baton from the publishing house Analogon, we are looking for writers who are also musicians, such as Pascal Quignard, as well as texts-scores and resonating footnotes.
• Resume publishing theatre texts in Italy. Theatre enables civil society to question itself, sometimes simply by providing a mirror. The arms race and torture are at the centre of two very powerful plays by Karel Čapek and Emmanuel Roblès that we wanted to bring to the Italian public.
• Crossing the boundaries between cultures, communities and social classes. Through wordless books and books in multiple languages, we aim to become a truly European publisher, transcending borders and embracing freedom of circulation.
In Transito supports independent bookshops in Italy and abroad, trusting in good booksellers — the future of books is in their hands.
In transito éditions pour :
