Brand Profile
ERIS PARFUMS, named after the Greek goddess of discord, celebrates unconventional beauty and subversive glamour.
Launched by New York-based Founder and Creative Director Barbara Herman in 2016, ERIS PARFUMS has been at the vanguard of niche perfume trends for almost a decade, with unconventional beauty and subversive glamour at the core of its DNA. With every new collection, ERIS subverts the status quo in its storytelling (provocative), style (bold), and ingredients (unusual). All of ERIS’s perfumes are composed by master perfumer Antoine Lie.
ERIS is the culmination of Barbara Herman’s perfume journey. She started collecting, researching, and writing about vintage perfume for her blog Yesterdaysperfume.com in 2008. That research evolved into a book, Scent and Subversion: Decoding a Century of Provocative Perfume (2013, Lyons Press). She was then inspired to create scents as daring and beautiful as those she discovered from the past by working with perfumer Antoine Lie, who she interviewed in the "Scent Visionaries" section of Scent and Subversion.
ERIS’s first collection, “La Belle et la Bête,” celebrated animalic floral perfumes with Antoine Lie’s postmodern take on animalic accords in perfumery. The Genderfluid Collection paid homage to the contemporary gender revolution, with one of its perfumes, Mxxx. extrait, boasting a 7% overdose of natural ambergris. Subsequent launches revived and renewed perfume categories and notes, including Green Spell’s (2020) unapologetic celebration of green ingredients including galbanum and tomato leaf, and Delta of Venus’s (2023) trend-setting guava accord created by Antoine Lie exclusively for ERIS.
ERIS debuts its 9th ERIS fragrance at Pitti Fragranze 2025.
