THE NEW SPAZIO RICERCA FOR PITTI IMMAGINE FILATI N. 54, 
IN COLLABORATION WITH THE FLANDERS FASHION INSTITUTE
 
 
A workshop on trends and ideas, a source of inspiration and stimuli for creatives in all fields that are directly or indirectly related to fashion, the Pitti Immagine Filati Spazio Ricerca is being revamped to stay at the forefront of style and research.  This edition will mark the beginning of Pitti Immagine’s collaboration with the Flanders Fashion Institute of Antwerp, the Belgian institution for supporting creativity in fashion – for the Spazio Ricerca of Pitti Immagine Filati.
 
Supermarket Of Styles – Supermarket Off Styles is the title and theme of the Spazio Ricerca at Pitti Immagine Filati N. 54, that will welcome visitors at the entrance to the fair, occupying the roughly 500 square meters of the Cavaniglia Pavilion. 
Curated by Angelo Figus, the Italian designer who has made Belgium his home and is one of the most talented new names on the European creative scene, with the cooperation of Nicola Miller for Fuzzi S.p.A, in researching the stitches and developing the prototypes, and with the support of Gruppo A12 for the layout, Supermarket Of Styles – Supermarket Off Styles will claim a leading role for knitwear in contemporary dressing. 
The supermarket, a metaphor for the constant presence of knitwear in daily life and a representation of the social fabric, reflects the contrasting and infinite possibilities for linking different situations by placing the consumer in the center of the creative process.  The layout recreates an ideal supermarket, where goods prevail over space.  Visitors will pass through a floating area made of color and transparencies, divided into product sectors, where they will come into contact with all-knitted objects. 
 
Eighty icon-objects from the collective imagination will become true communications media that will identify the trends and colors for the 2005 spring-summer knitwear collections. Primary colors will recapitulate and symbolize the essence of the objects.
The Spazio Ricerca at Pitti Immagine Filati, designed by Angelo Figus, will offer a new approach to the concept of trend, a catalogue of sensations and moods gathered from all around the world rather than diktats imposed by hotbeds of approval.
