LA PERLA and its new men’s loungewear & beachwear
In Florence, with a runway show, for Pitti Uomo 86
La Perla launches a new concept of men’s loungewear and beach wear, with the Spring/Summer 2015 collection, to be presented Thursday 19 June in Florence, at Pitti Uomo 86.
The concept that marks the new collection is a sophisticated mix & match of different materials and garments that reveal a tailored approach and a surreal reference to the underwater world.
Emiliano Rinaldi, who has been entrusted with the creative direction of the project, wanted to give the collection an unmistakable “La Perla” hallmark, through the use of particular fabrics and details borrowed from the world of women’s lingerie, but reinterpreted from a male viewpoint.
The symbol of the collection is a print inspired by the world of Italian artist Piero Fornasetti: a winged oyster that guards a pearl transformed into a mysterious eye.
The underwater world also provides inspiration for the beachwear collection, which uses a special material in Lycra illuminated by an iridescent effect that recalls fish scales. This material is used to make some unusual garments like the wetsuit and the 1920s-style one-piece bathing suit.
