Florence and Fashion
A photo exhibition produced by Vogue Italia: a celebration of the five Born in Florence through iconic images
“Florence and Fashion” is a iconographic exhibition produced by Vogue Italia and dedicated to the five Born in Florence fashion houses.
In the Sala d’Arme in Palazzo Vecchio, a unique photo gallery will present the styles of Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Emilio Pucci and Ermanno Scervino, through photo-shoot from the archives of Vogue Italia. The exhibition will be a tribute to the city of Florence and to its major players on the contemporary fashion scene, the interpreters of that totally Italian creative spirit and crafting skills that left their indelible imprint on the history and development of fashion.
The story, told in fifty images - ten for each label - from different decades will pinpoint the salient moments of the histories of the Born in Florence five, in a flowing dialogue between modern and antique, between art and technologies.
A contemporary exhibition setup, consisting of vertical monoliths and blowups mounted on lightboxes will produce striking contrasts with the Sala d’Arme which is the only room in Palazzo Vecchio that is still as it was in 1312, and a symbol place in the history of Florence.
Opening on Tuesday 17 June at 6.30 p.m..
